The bank suffered the most record-breaking DDoS attack in its history.

Sberbank was the victim of the most powerful DDoS attack in its history about two weeks ago. This was announced by the head of the bank German Gref at a press conference on Tuesday, Interfax reports.

According to Gref, the attack was aimed at disabling the bank's website and reached a record number of requests per second - 1 million.

"It was the most powerful attack in our history. It was about three to four times more powerful than the most powerful one before," he stressed.

Gref also noted that Sberbank consistently faces about ten attacks a month, but never allowed hackers to penetrate even the first circuit of the bank's defense, of which it has only three.

However, recently the bank has noticed a qualitative change in cyber attacks, hackers are becoming more sophisticated and skilled.

"We noticed that these are some new hackers, their handwriting is not known to us. That is, some new highly qualified criminals have appeared on the market, who have started systematically attacking the largest Russian resources," the head of Sberbank said.

Recall that on May 6, 2022, Sberbank repelled another powerful DDoS attack. It was directed at the bank's website, and malicious traffic generated by the botnet came from more than 27 thousand devices from Taiwan, the United States, Japan and the United Kingdom. Its capacity was more than 450 gigabytes per second.
