Eco-friendly approach to the museum: Solar roof and rainwater.

Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) has completed the construction of a Science and Fiction Museum in Chengdu, China. The building impresses with its unique shape, resembling an expanding nebula cloud with a star in the center. The interior of the museum is designed in a futuristic style that would not seem out of place even in a science fiction movie.

The museum is located in Chengdu, a city of 20 million people and the capital of Sichuan Province. The city is surrounded by mountains and forests and has a rich history that goes back thousands of years.

The internal space of the building is 59,000 sq. m. m and includes exhibition halls, conference rooms, galleries and theaters. The spacious central atrium space is naturally illuminated by a large skylight.

ZHA emphasized that the museum is integrated into the natural scenery along the lake coast. The museum's design creates activity nodes connected by walking routes that extend from the city through the surrounding park and into the heart of the building.

Inside the museum, natural ventilation is provided, and a large solar collector on the roof helps reduce energy consumption. Landscaping also plays an important role: it involves the use of an adjacent lake to collect and store rainwater, which is then filtered and used inside the building.

The museum was officially opened a few days ago and became the venue for WorldCon, the world's largest science fiction event, as well as the Hugo Award, which was held in China for the first time.
