Spanish police have detained in Alicante one of the leaders of the Kelvin Security hacker group, which has carried out more than 300 attacks on strategic sectors of 90 countries in three years.
According to the Spanish National Police, the detainee was "the main person responsible for laundering money obtained from criminal activities."
According to the agency, the main targets of the group are critical infrastructure and government institutions, in Spain they attacked the municipalities of Getafe (Madrid), Camas (Seville), La Aba (Badajoz) and the government of Castile-La Mancha. Members of the hacker group searched for vulnerabilities on the sites of strategic objects, and if they managed to find them, they stole confidential data and sold it on the darknet.
